What is Ela content?

These standards provide guidelines for English language arts (ELA), as well as literacy in history/social studies and science. The ELA/literacy standards provide knowledge and skills that will prepare students for life beyond the classroom.



What is ELA?

The American National Council of Teachers of English divides English and language arts into five main categories: reading, writing speaking, listening, watching and listening. Language arts classes in elementary school focus on basic reading, writing, and linguistic / communicative skills.

What are the four strands in ELA? These ELA standards can be sorted into four distinct strands: Speaking, Writing, Speaking, and Listening and Reading.

Also, know the difference between reading and ELA.

Language Arts includes grammar lessons (parts speech and punctuation rules), spelling/vocabulary and a heavy focus on writing. Reading includes both novels and the textbook.
