What is a high velocity air filter?

The furnace comes with high velocity filters, which are black plastic filters. These filters are very resistant and can be fitted in the furnace's bottom.

Is it possible to restrict airflow by using a higher MERV rating?

Ten years ago, HVAC systems that had panel filters rated 6 to 9 MERV were advised that a MERV 11 or greater filter was required in order to restrict airflow. This is known as the filter pressure drop. This would increase the system's lifespan and cost you more in cooling and heating.

What AC filter should you use? You can use a 1 inch thick filter in your AC system. If you have a smaller AC system, pleated or fiberglass filters are the best options. These filters won't improve indoor air quality, but they will protect your equipment.

What is an acceptable MERV rating for air filters, other than the above?

The MERV rating scale is 1-16. The lower quality filters are usually made from fiberglass. The majority of residential HVAC systems will use filters with ratings between 7-12. Commercial buildings should have a higher MERV value, 5-16.

Is it a good idea to use air vent filters?

Vent filters are generally less effective than HVAC filters, but they can still block larger debris and prevent insects from entering and exiting vents. They also make it easier to retrieve small items that have been deposited in vents. To reduce allergens in your air, do you need a vent filter?
