Can you put polyurethane over a picture?

Remember that you want a smooth, effective polyurethane finish. You should be able to move your hand freely over the image without having to feel the edges or the picture. You should expect to apply between 10-15 coats of polyurethane in a few days, depending on the drying time between coats.

You might also ask: Will polyurethane ruin my picture?

Remember that polyurethane (turps clean-up) will yellow over time, which will affect the viewability of your photo. Use water to clean polyurethane once it has dried clear. does not yellow. There are issues with applying finishes to paper.

Can you spray polyurethane onto paper? Clear polyurethane coatings, clear acrylic spray paints and lacquer sealers are all available for waterproof paper. You can find waterproofing sprays at craft shops, department stores, and home improvement centers. They work well on paper, dried silk flowers and wood.

People often ask if polyurethane can be used over Mod Podge.

I have never had any problems using a non-yellowing polyurethane varnish over modge podge. I don't like the look of modgepodge so I usually lightly sand and then apply the polyurethane . It comes in gloss (my favorite) and matte (my favourite).
