What paint should I use to finish a fiberglass canoe

Rustolium, or another oil-based exterior paint, is a good choice. There is no need to use marine paint for a canoe. Spray can paint (rattlecans) is not recommended as they are not as durable as brush- or rolled-on paint.

So, which paint is best for fiberglass?

Sunrise Window recommends acrylic latex paint for fiberglass. Acrylic paint sticks well to fiberglass. This solves one of the major problems in painting this particular material. Acrylic paint will not crack or blister and can be cleaned easily.

Can you paint fiberglass? Fiberglass surfaces are not porous like wood and therefore cannot be painted with spray paint. You will need to prepare fiberglass surfaces for spray painting. Otherwise, the paint will soon peel.

Another question that might be asked is, "What kind of paint do I use on a fiberglass boat?"
