Is it possible to still see lava in Hawaii

It is posted at the Volcano National park website and visitor center. However, there is currently no active lava on any Hawaiian islands.

Is there any lava left in Hawaii, considering all this?

There are currently no active flows within or outside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. For more information, please see our section 'What's happening now' below. You could have seen lava flows on Chain of Craters Road before 2018, just as easily as you could see a steam plume.

Where can I also see lava? These are the best places to visit if you want to see "Red Hot Lava".

  • #1: Stromboli volcano, the lighthouse of Mediterranean.
  • #2: Dukono & Ibu - Indonesia’s most active volcanoes
  • #3: Erta Ale in Ethiopia, the best lava lake you can see from up close

Is there any lava flow on Big Island, too?

Big Island Hawaii Lava Flows Map None are dead. However, Mauna Loa, Kilauea, and occasionally Hualalai make an appearance. The Big Island is almost as large as Connecticut. Its 4,000-square-miles can hold all the Hawaiian Islands together.

Are there lava tubes open in Hawaii?

Since the 2018 Kilauea eruption the lavatube (also known as Nahuku) has been closed to the general public. This is because of concerns that the thousands of earthquakes during the eruption may have damaged the tube structural integrity.
