Is it possible to drill into Hardie boards?

It can be cut and drill just like wood. It is better to drill through cement-fiber siding with a carbide drill bits than a regular drill bit made of steel. You can drill cement-fiber siding while it is being installed or before installation.

For small holes, equip a power drill with either a masonry drill bit or a carbide drill bit. Preferably, a saw that is designed to be used with fiber cement siding.

Can I screw into cement board?

Attachment of cement board to plywood or another underlayment can be held in place with 1 1/4 inch screws. For thicker or heavier fixtures, 1 5/8 inch screws should be used. The board will be held in place by 1 1/2-inch galvanized nails. You should still use the extra adhesive to attach the nails or screws.
