How can you connect a black wire to a red one?

240 Volt Circuits also have Red Wires
Both the red and black wires in this instance are hot and connected directly to the main panel's circuit breaker. It doesn't matter which brass screw you are connecting the black wire to, and the red to the other brass bolt.

Is the red wire connected to black or white?

Red. Red electric wire is used to indicate secondary live wires within a 220-volt circuit. It's used in certain types of switch legs as well as in interconnections between smoke detectors hard-wired into a power system. A red wire can be connected to another red or black wire.

What do you do about black and red wires, too? Red is used in Oz for the positive wire on DC systems and the Active (or hot, as some prefer it to be called) wire on AC systems. Black can be used to negative on DC systems and the neutral wire for AC systems. Earth is not allowed to have green, yellow or both.

Can I also connect black and red wires together?

Red Electrical Wires in 220-volt circuits. These are secondary live wires. They can be used in certain types of switch legs, just like black wires. You can link two red wires together, or a red and black wire together.

What are the locations of the black and red wires on a light switch's light switch?

The hot (black) wire is attached to the brass screws or the hole in the back. It should be on the same side with the brass screw. This wire can sometimes be red. If the device has one of these wires, the green or bare copper (ground), wire attaches to either the green screw terminal or the electrical box.
