Which type of survivorship curve applies to humans?

Type I, or convex curves, are marked by high age-specific survival probabilities in the early and middle years of life followed by rapid declines in survival later in life. These are common in species that have few offspring, but who care for their offspring well, such as humans and large mammals.

What are the 3 types?

There are three types. Type 1 curves indicate individuals who have a high chance of living to adulthood. Type II Curves indicate individuals whose chances of survival are independent of their age. Type III curves are those who die most often in the early stages.

What type of survivorship curve does an elephant have? The Type I survivorship curve for elephants is that mortality increases with age, and fertility decreases with age.

It is also important to find out which animal has a Type 3 survival curve.

The Type III curve is characteristic of small mammals, fishes and invertebrates. It describes organisms that have a high death rate or low survivorship rate immediately after birth.

What animals are Type 2 survivors?

Type II survivorship means that the death rate of individuals does not depend upon their age. This includes rodents, adult birds and certain turtle species.
