What is a ball bearing assembly?

To ensure that the balls are in a consistent position relative to one another, assembly is complete by attaching a cage to them. The balls could drift out of their positions during operation, which would cause the bearing failure. The cage does not carry any load and is only used to keep the ball in its proper position.
