Who played sitar on Within You Without You?

The same London collective provided accompanists to Harrison's "Love You To" (Harrison's first foray in Indian music since 1966's Revolver). Harrison overdubbed Sitar and also sang the lead vocal. Harrison's ideas were used to score Martin's strings.

These are the instruments used in Within You Without You.

George Harrison sang lead vocals, played the sitar, guitar and tambura. The song also features the sitar and other Indian instrument like the swarmandal (dilruba), tabla (tabla), etc. It contains spiritual lyrics that convey a message about life's continual flow within and without you.

What was it that piqued George Harrison’s interest in Indian music? He was already leading the Beatles to folk rock by 1965's Rubber Soul. His interest in Bob Dylan and the Byrds had led him to Indian classical music and his use of the sitar for "Norwegian Wood, This Bird Has flown" (Norwegian Wood). Rubber Soul was later his favorite [Beatles] album.
