Is it possible to apply satin over gloss?

You can paint semi-gloss-painted walls without having to sand or prime if you don't want them to be sanded. If semi-gloss walls are lead-based, you can also paint over them with a satin-based paint. Use a water-based satin spray paint if it is water-based.

Can you then apply satin polyurethane to gloss?

A: You are allowed to apply any sheen on another so long as you have removed all previous coatings. Pre-finished floors can be difficult to clean because of the bevel. These must be done manually.

What should I choose between gloss and satin polyurethane? Polyurethane can be applied to floors to give them an extremely durable topcoat. It can also be applied to furniture to give it a shiny, lustrous finish. The amount of shine is what makes a satin finish different from a glossy. Satin urethanes are more smoothed to remove luster, which results in less sheen.

Re: Satin on gloss - As long as the gloss is sanded to get a key, satin should be fine. Satin usually self-coating or should I say on the tin. I am currently trying to paint old gloss doors into satin. This is not a problem as long as I don't use UC old gloss unless they are very yellowed or very old.

Clear satin polyurethane is shiny?

Professionals today recommend satin finishes, which are in high demand. Satina finishes have a medium-low sheen/luster that hides dirt and scratches better then gloss or high gloss polyurethane finishes.
