Do batteries need an SDS?

This Hazard Communication Standard is not applicable to subcategories, including anything OSHA defines as an "article". All of our batteries are considered "articles" and therefore a MSDS is not required.

AA batteries are therefore considered dangerous goods.

Standard dry alkaline batteries can be considered non-hazardous. Standard AA, AAA alkaline batteries containing manganese dioxide or sodium hydroxide are considered non-hazardous.

What information is not required to appear on an SDS? An SDS is not required for anything that does not pose a risk to health or physical safety. Not all dusts, such as flour and hardwood dusts have health and physical hazards. An SDS would be required for these dusts.

Are safety data sheets also required?

A safety data sheet (SDS), as required by OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 19.10.1200, must accompany or precede the initial shipment of any hazardous material. If the SDS has been modified since the previous shipment, an SDS must be provided for items previously ordered.

Who is responsible for providing SDS

Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), are short documents that give information about the hazards and safety precautions of a product. SDSs are typically written by the manufacturer of the product or its supplier.
