What's the purpose of the shoulders?

The shoulder joint is more than a single joint. It is a complex combination of bones, ligaments and muscles that we call the shoulder girdle. The shoulder girdle's primary function is to provide strength and motion to the arm.

What is the purpose of the shoulder joint in this regard?

The main shoulder joint is also known as the glenohumeral or shoulder joint. It's a ball-and-socket joint that allows the arm and shoulder to move in a circular manner or to hinge away from the body.

What are the different parts of the shoulder? Your shoulder is composed of three bones: your collarbone (clavicle), your upper arm bone, and your shoulder blade (scapula). Your shoulder clavicle has a round socket that houses the head of your upper arm bones. This socket is known as the glenoid.

How do the shoulders work?

The humerus (arm bone), scapula, and clavicle are the components of the shoulder joint. Your rotator wrist is composed of muscles and tendon that hold the ball (head), of your humerus (upper-arm bone) in your shoulders socket. It can also be used to rotate and raise your arm.

What's the shoulder?

The shoulder is the largest and most complicated joint in the body. The shoulder joints are formed where the humerus, the upper arm bone, meets the scapula ( shoulders blade), much like a ball or socket. In the acromioclavicular joints, the clavicle (collarbone), meets the acromion.
