What regulator publishes HMDA on their website?

Congress enacted the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), in 1975. It was then implemented by Regulation C of the Federal Reserve Board. The rule-writing authority for Regulation C was transferred to CFPB on July 21, 2011.

Many people also wonder if WHO publishes HMDA data.

The DoddaFrank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2018 required that HMDA data be submitted via an online portal to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This process will allow you to submit data for the first year, including loans from 2017.

Secondly, what information is required to report on HMDA? HMDA and Regulation C require certain mortgage lenders to keep records of specific mortgage lending information in order to report. With 16.3 million loan records reported, 6,762 lenders were required by HMDA statistics in 2017.

Afterwards, you might also wonder, "Where are the HMDA data published?"

Financial institution disclosure statements, MSA and nationwide aggregate reports for 2018 HMDA data, and tools to search and analyze the HMDA data are available at https://ffiec.cfpb.gov/data-publication/. More information about HMDA data reporting requirements is also available at https://ffiec.cfpb.gov/.

Who is exempted from HMDA?

You are not required to report data for mortgage loans if you have originated less than 500 closed-end loans but more than 500 open credit lines. All new HMDA data would need to be reported for the 500+ open-ended credit lines.
