What is the Square ceiling?

Square Set. Square set provides an alternative finish where the wall meets the ceiling, giving it a modern square look. The metal internal angle is cut to length, stapled at 200mm intervals, and compound applied with a 5a blade to ceiling junction and wall.

What does Square set refer to?

Definition of square set. 1 : Any of the rectangular sets that are used in the square- set system for mining. 2 : A group of four people arranged in a square to dance square.

The question then becomes, "Does Square set cornice crack?" Although many architects and builders prefer square set without cornice, plaster lining contractors have reported difficulties with square set because they find that the ceiling and walls are not aligned. This is a difficult problem to solve and can lead to increased cracking.

This makes Square set cornice seem more expensive.

The plasterer will have to work more with square set than other cornice options.

What is Shadowline?

A shadowline junction refers to a recess measuring 10 x 10mm in the ceiling or wall. It is made by using a particular metal angle. It is then necessary to plaster the corner where the angle meets plasterboard on the ceiling or wall. The plaster is then sanded to an 'high-level' finish that can be painted.
