A 4-inch diameter metal vent is located on the dryer's back that expels the water-laden air. The air cannot be blown into your home interior. The dryer transfers the air to the exterior using a flexible, semi-rigid or rigid tube.

Don't use plastic for your dryer duct. Foil is available in a UL Listed flavour and is very easy to use. However, it is prohibited by many building codes officials and clothing dryer makers. Semi-rigid aluminium is good but can be difficult to work with. Semi-rigid aluminum should be used only if it is UL listed.
