What is CMS Oasis?

Abstract. Abstract.

What is Oasis' home health assessment?

The Home Health Outcome and Assessment Information Set, (OASIS), contains data items that are designed to improve home care and measure patient outcomes. All home health agencies that accept Medicare or Medicaid payments must complete the OASIS assessment.

The next question is: Who is qualified to collect Oasis data. A4. 1. CMS defines a qualified clinician to collect and document accurate OASIS data. This includes a registered nurse, physical therapist, speech-language pathologist or occupational therapist.

Oasis is required to receive Medicare Advantage.

Only skilled Medicare and Medicaid patients are eligible to collect OASIS data. A comprehensive assessment should also be done to determine the patient's ongoing need for home, nursing, rehabilitation, social, or discharge planning services.

What length of time do you need to submit an oasis submission?

As stated above, payment for home health episodes is contingent on the submission of an OASIS. The OASIS must be sent within 30 days after completion of the episode (M0090). This 30 day period usually expires when a final claim has been billed.
