What are the Gustar verbs, you ask?

These verbs can be used in Spanish sentences
  • Dare a to Give.
  • Gustar a to love
  • Hacer a to do.
  • Parecer a to seem.
  • It is a must to go.
  • Permitir a to permit / allow.
  • Interesar un to interest.
  • Quedar a for remain.

This being said, what kind of verb is Gustar then?

The verb gustar can be used to express likes or dislikes. Literally, it means to be pleasant. It is possible to conjugate gustar with other verbs within the same category using the third person singular/plural. These types of verbs usually require the use of the indirect object pronouns (IOP) at their beginning.

Is Gustar also an AR verb? Gustar (pronounced goos-tahr), is an AR verb. However, you wouldn't be able to tell that by looking at it in a sentence. If you make a sentence, the subject becomes the subject, and the verb gustar takes its form.

How do you write Gustar, a verb?

These are the present-tense conjugations for gustar with their indirect objects pronouns:

  1. (a mA) Me gusta a I like.
  2. (a ti) Te gusta a You like.
  3. (a A(c)l/ella/usted) Le gusta a He/She/You like(s)
  4. (a nosotros) Nos gusta a We like.
  5. (a vosotros) Os gusta a You all like.
  6. (a ellos/ellas/ustedes). Les gusta a They like/You like.

Why don't you use Yo gusto instead of me gusta?

It isn't unusual at all. It doesn't necessarily mean "to like", but it does mean "to be pleasant to". Yo gusto = It is pleasing to me. Me gusta = To me, he/she/it/it is pleasing. Or to be more natural, "I like him/her/it." Me gusta is what I like.
