Los Angeles has snow?

The Greater Los Angeles basin is very sparsely covered in snow, but nearby San Gabriel Mountains or San Bernardino Mountains receive heavy amounts of snow each winter. On January 15, 1932, Los Angeles saw a record snowfall of 2 inches (5 cm).

This begs the question: When was it last snowed in Los Angeles?

January 1962

Why is LA lacking snow? Three years ago, there was little to no snowpack in Los Angeles. This caused water restrictions in the cities. California doesn't get snow on the coast cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. This is due to two reasons. The precipitation from these storms drops as rain below 5,000ft or more, and as snow above that.

And will it snow in Los Angeles again?

February 21, 2019, several areas in Los Angeles reported snowfall for the first time since 1962. However, none of them were downtown. Los Angeles is not known for its snowfall. It is an extremely rare event that occurs once in 50-60 years.

California: Where is it snowing?

Mountain High Resorts, at an elevation of 8,200 feet/2500 metres in Los Angeles County, reported that 36 inches of snow fell on the resort. This caused it to temporarily close. After receiving 18 inches of snow, Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains nearly set a new record for winter snowfall.
