Is a peach and a plum the same?

Although they are considered to be different fruits, peaches and nectarines can be considered the same species. A plum fruit belongs to the subgenus Prunus. This subgenus is distinct from other subgenera ( cherries , peaches and bird cherries, etc. )

What do you call a mix between a plum and a peach?

A nectarine (Prunus Persica) is a fuzzless type of peach. It is not a hybrid between a peach and a plum . Sometimes, nectarine trees will have nectarine peaches and sometimes nectarine peaches.

Also, find out what a peach plum is. Flavor Train Peach Plum appears large, but its peachy flavor overtones will let you know that it has some peach! The most sought-after fruits at the nursery are Flavor Train Peach Plums. The fruit is round and large with yellow flesh and brownish-red skin. Peach Plums are hardy down to minus 10 degrees F.

This brings us to the question: Are plums and peaches related?

The Prunus genus includes closely related members such as cherries, plums and plums. Because their seeds are large and hard, they are often called stone fruits.

What can I replace plums with?

You can replace the plums by almost any seasonal fruit, including apricots, pitted and halved; cranberries, or any summer berry; sliced apple, nectarines and peaches. Canned or frozen fruit can be substituted for fresh. This was my first attempt at making this recipe with 4 cups blueberries and raspberries (mixed). It turned out perfect!
