How long does ice dyeing take?

20 minutes

Can you mix ice dye and liquid dye?

Liquid Rit dye--you drip the liquid dye onto ice using the same technique as the liquid Rit dye. Any dye which immediately runs from the ice and the fabric will become darker. You can achieve a blended look by dripping two colors.

You can also ice dye polyester. Synthetic fibers like rayon and polyester don't take dye as well as natural fibers. After the 15 minutes are up, wring the fabric to remove any excess water. Place your ice on top and make a small pile.

This is how to make cold dye.

Soak and wash the fabric. Stir the water slowly and then soak it in the soapy water. Let it dry according to the instructions on your dye package. Most dyes recommend that you stir the clothing every now & again. This is to ensure that the dye moves throughout the fibers.

Is it possible to ice dye wool?

This technique can only be used with Rit All-Purpose powder dye. You cannot use liquid dye. (2) Ice dyeing natural fabrics (such cotton, linen, wool and silk) is not allowed.
