How do you make a mandala?

VIDEO

This is how to make a mandala using a compass.

The compass point should be placed in the middle of the circle. Draw a circle jumping over each petal. To create a smaller circle, use the compass. You can repeat this process as many times you like to make a series of rings that surround the petal shapes. You can also draw your circles starting from the center, as I demonstrated in the video.

You might also wonder why mandalas were destroyed. The destruction of the mandala is a reminder about the fragility of life. The coloured sand is collected into an urn, and then dispersed into running water. This allows the world to benefit from its healing properties. It is considered a gift to mother earth, to help re-energise our environment and the universe.

What materials can be used to create mandalas?

Materials required: You only need to have paper, a pencil and a ruler. An eraser is also needed. You can use colored pencils, watercolors or crayons to color your mandala. If you prefer, you can also use a compasse - these will be explained in the next steps.

What is a personal Mandala?

Mandala, a sanskrit word meaning circle, is also known as Mandala. Mandalas were ancient ritual and spiritual symbols that represent the universe. Mandalas have been an invaluable tool in my quest for clarity and insight. Every piece of art takes time.
