Do you have to marinate jerky?

These can be'marinated' in a traditional, wet marinade. These jerky strips were dried in my Nesco Snackmaster PRO Dehyrator for 6 hours at 160F. This meat was very fat so I had to blot the jerky every hour with paper towels to absorb any liquid fat.

How long should you marinate the jerky?

No matter what meat you choose, the ideal marination time for jerky is 12 hours to one week. The marinade will seep into the meat. It is not a good idea to marinate the meat for less than four to six hours, as it won't absorb the full flavor of your seasonings.

Also, do I have to reuse the beef jerky marinade? You should never ever reuse a marinade. It can transfer bacteria to raw meat. The marinade must also be discarded.

Do you need to use cure for jerky making?

To make good jerky, you don't need to use a treatment. It is recommended to keep the jerky for a longer time. It will last for around 2 years if it is kept in an air-tight container. If there is any fat left on the meat, it will also keep it from going rancid.

Is it possible to make jerky with no salt?

Low-calorie homemade beef jerky can be made from lean meats that don't have much visible fat. Place your sliced meat on the tray and let it dry for at least 4 hours or until it reaches the desired consistency.
