Can Minwax Wipe On Poly be used on paint?

For a consistent smooth finish, we recommend using a microfiber applicator such as our pads. Apply the paint to a freshly painted surface. Allow it to dry for 12hrs before you apply. Two coats are recommended for maximum durability. Wait 2-4 hours before applying the second coat.

It is also important to ask if Wipe On Poly can be used over paint.

You can use oil- or water-based polyurethane over latex paint. However, oil-based polyurethane tends yellow with age, while water-based ones stay transparent. You will also find that oil-based products dry slower than water-based ones. This gives you more time for work.

How long does Minwax Wipe On Poly take to dry? The dry and recoat times for Minwax Wipe on Poly are determined at 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Wipe On Poly will dry to touch in 2-4hrs, can be handled in 8-12hrs and can be recoated within 4-6 hours. The full cure can be achieved within 24 hours.

Afterwards, you might also wonder if Minwax polyurethane can be used on painted wood.

Most commonly, polyurethane is used to stain wood. It gives a durable finish. I do not recommend polyurethane to be used on painted furniture as it can yellow the paint. To protect stained pieces such as my front door's interior, I use Minwax Polyurethane.

Is Wipe on Poly a good idea?

Polyurethane is a great choice for those who want to save money and have long-lasting durability. You also get hassle-free simplicity, speed, and convenience with wipe on poly. It can be used on furniture and as a trimmer.
