Are you able to put upstands behind your hob?

Granite and quartz are both available for upstands. They can be as large as 200mm in height, while granite costs more. Laminate stands are not recommended around the hob. Granite can be used behind the hob, or you could use tiles or a splashback behind it.

Herein, do Upstands go behind hob?

If the splashback is located above the hob, the upstand will stop on either side. This makes sense. It is exactly the same as bluntness, with the splashback just behind the host and all other places. The upstand is the entire thing, with a mirror on top.

Do you also need an upstand? A minimum 100mm upstand is required, although some suppliers will accommodate smaller ones (70mm). They serve the purpose of providing a surface that can wipe off the wall without wetting it. You will still need a splashback at full height behind the hob. It can be either glass or stainless steel.

You can have tiles with an upstand, but it is possible.

While tiles are used extensively to protect kitchen walls behind work surfaces, they can be difficult to use in certain situations (e.g. behind a cooker hob), but we think an upstand is more effective in blending the worktop and kitchen in a more appealing way. You can use tiles over the upstand, if desired.

How do you attach upstands?

It is easy to install laminate worktop stands. The upstand must be cut to size with a saw or jigsaw. Attach to your wall using water-resistant silicone. You can refinish edges with easy-to-apply edging strips.
