Are foam tiles toxic?

Play mats made of EVA foam are often marketed as non-toxic. EVA foam can off-gas formamide. There are currently no formamide-free EVA mats. Although a company may claim its mats are free of formamide, it cannot do so since formamide is only tested up to a certain point.

Do you think Eva foam is safe?

EVA foam (ethylene vinyl Acetate) was found to be safe for baby toys and mats. Although there are some risks of formamide exposure, these are not significant and are unlikely to be a problem.

Are PVC playmats safe to use?

They are safe and non-toxic, even when they reach the toddler stage. Unfortunately, traditional playmats are made of PVC, which is also the most toxic type of plastic.
