Can you store a piano in a storage unit?

Invest in a climate-controlled storage unit. Like other wood furniture, pianos are sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. A large enough unit can be rented to allow the piano to be stored upright on its legs. A grand piano should not be stored on its side.

It is also important to know how to protect my piano when it is in storage.

You should cover your piano completely before you store it. Cover the keys with a cloth and seal the lid to keep dust and dirt out. To prevent internal moisture damage, place a nylon bag of chewing tobacco inside the piano.

Secondly, can you store a piano in a pod? A PODS container can hold upright and baby grand pianos, but a grand piano might not fit due to its size. We recommend that you purchase optional PODS Contents Insurance if you plan to move your piano with PODS.

How do you store a piano?

The piano should be kept in a temperature controlled area such as a spare room or storage unit. The storage area should be large enough to store the piano upright and not on its side. Also, the piano should be wrapped in multiple layers of protective cloth sheets and then covered with a layer of plastic wrap.

How much does piano storage cost

In a climate-controlled area, piano storage costs between $50 and $75 per month. This is an important step to take if your instrument needs to be stored safely in a climate-controlled area.
